TV Ads That Don’t Work And How To Attract Your Ideal Customer
Filed under: Attracting Customers, Inbound Marketing, SEO, Social Media, internet
Have you been watching TV and been amazed at how long the commercials are now? I’ll tell you, I don’t care about any commercial for cars, food, restaurants or anything else. Why do they make commercials so long? Fortunately, I don’t have to watch them and neither do you. I fast forward through them by using DVR, Digital Video Recorder. If I am doing this, how many others are doing it and how can you attract customers if they don’t see your business?
As an advertiser, getting people’s attention is key but with all the information coming at them, it is difficult. I wonder how much money is being lost by advertiser’s still using ‘interruption marketing’? I’m not saying TV ads are bad but make they viewer react and interact with you via online. This way you can capture their information and find out their needs and wants. Even if I were to make a commercial as an advertiser, I would put some type of direct response system into play. Do something cool and then ask for interaction. That would be great! I would actually watch that commercial.
My strategy in using the DVR is to either record it and or if it’s a ‘live’ show, I will simply pause it at a commercial, get up and do something, get some food and let it record for 15 minutes, that way I can forward through the commercials.
So, what does work for advertising or how do you attract your ideal customer? Go where your audience is talking about your product or service. Get in front of them. Like Google or the other search engines, reach out to them in the social media networks. But what about “offline” interruption marketing? Let’s say I would ask myself, “What is in it for the viewer?” Give them something for free. Make them interact with you, the advertiser. Interaction is good. And it’s not really free, you are getting their information and you know they are interested. You now have captured their attention and information. Now you can develop a relationship with them.
There are so many choices for the consumer today, your business has to “stand out” and get noticed and take care of the customer. I was at the bank yesterday making a deposit and the teller was somewhat rude to me. I thought to myself, why is this person I do not know, who is taking my money and is suppose to be nice being rude to me? I quickly thought of switching banks.
Are you a business that needs more customers? Most do, then interact with your customers who you already have and ask them what they need or want, then supply it.

SEO Social Media Website Traffic Tips
Many people come to me and ask how they can get more traffic to their website. They have spent the time and money on building or designing their site but they have no traffic. Others have tried PPC, pay per click, campaigns but have had little success in actual business resulting from the ads.
I always recommend to them, that the natural or organic search results are where your website needs to be located or ranked. 80%-85% of people go to the natural results over the paid (PPC) results. Here are some simple tips to making sure your website can be found by the search engines. And trust me, Google, MSN and Yahoo want to find your site.
1. Make sure your site has good, quality content that is in the form of text, not text in pictures. People can read the text in pictures but the search bots can not read the text in pictures. Of course, you can use alt tags but the general rule is to use text that is readable to the search bots. Make sure to use your keywords in the text without “stuffing” the page with those keywords to many times. Make the keywords and text sound normal. Don’t repeat the keyword(s) every other sentence.
2. Use keywords in your title tags. Keywords are what people type in to the search engines to find what they want. Start by doing keyword research to find out what people are typing in to the search engines. Google has a free keyword tool here: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
3. Do not use frames, java script, or flash. If you must use java script, move it off the page and if you must use flash, limit your flash usage to small areas.
4. Get inbound links. This is a critical rule along with good quality, unique content. Content is king and links are queen. If you do not have any inbound links to your site, nobody will be able to find your site, including the search bots. Links are what connect and tell search bots what a website is about.
